Why do we need work life balance tips

Why should Employers consider or establish work/life balance? It is vital that each organization should establish policies to balance work/life for their employees. To assist employees to achieve a good work life balance increases work satisfaction, increases their loyalty to their employer, and helps employers to achieve career longevity and employers will not lose experience employee so often. Also, it will increase productivity, lower absenteeism, and improve employee’s health and wellbeing.
There are many options for employers seeking to improve work/life balance for their employees. Whether the goal is to improve retention, avoid employee burnout, improve employee health, reduce absenteeism, or increase productivity. If employers are interested to work on work/life balance for everyone at their organization, there are many ways to improve it. The followings are some ways that can be implemented so to improve work/life balance:
Employers should offer the followings so to help employees achieve the goal of work/life balance:
Allowing work from home: With current modern technology, employee can work from home or remotely. All they need is a lab top to work remotely. It will save time for employees and avoid the long hours of commute back/forth to work.
Restricting working hours: This means employers will not allow their employees to work more than 7 hours daily and will not recommend after hours work so to avoid burn out.
Focus on being goal oriented: Employers should focus on high productivity doesn’t necessarily come in 8-hour segments. In other words, productive employees may get their work done efficiently, and not need to be at the worksite a full 8 hours every day.
Workplace culture: Employers should promote work/life balance in office. Encourage employees to take necessary breaks and train them to manage workloads so to avoid stress out in work place.
Promoting breaks  in the work day: Employer needs to encourage employees to take lunch breaks and rest breaks—taking breaks has been shown to actually increase productivity levels. Higher productivity means less need to work late.
Providing employees with work/life balance info: It is important to provide information about work/life balance to employees which will foster a better culture within the organization. This idea can result in employees taking better care to ensure this balance exists.
Providing childcare benefits: Employers can provide its employees discounts for childcare services/centers or it could be in the form of on-site childcare options. Either way, it will parents to less worry about their kids and remove some stress, which will enable to focus on their work and be productive.
Offering maternity/paternity leave: This is a major issue these days in the United States and/or other western countries. Parents love to have kids but they worry about losing their jobs. So, if the employers offer maternity/paternity leave, it will alleviate parent’s stress and will have a great positive impact on work place.
However, I have been working with an organization since six months that offers work/life balance. First thing that really helps all employees is the flexible working hours. We need to work for seven hours everyday and start time is from 8am to 10am. Our employer has given us the option to chose flex hours which is very helpful. The public transportation is unpredictable and anything can happen on way to office, delays in bus, trains and traffic jam and etc. Thus, it is so important for employers to offer flex hours in their organizations and it will alleviate many stresser.
As conclusion, one can argue that offering flexible hours will allow employees more flexibility in what hours they work in a given day, employees can better manage their time around all obligations. Even some organizations offer make up hours. For instance, if an employee comes late an hour, he/she will be allowed to make up that hour by staying late..

How the four areas of cultural intelligence aid a leader in understanding culture as well as intercultural efforts?

The introduction to this Unit points out that technological and globalization have taken our interdependence with our work colleagues outside the office. We are now connected in so many ways, to so many people, from so many walks of life. Such, often unintentional, interconnectedness changes the rules about how we need to think about the world and how we need to interact with the people we meet in it. Cultural intelligence can help us negotiate this new world, help us engage people, “create systems of inclusion” (Saylor, 2012, p.188), and thereby be more included ourselves. The four areas in which cultural intelligence will significantly improve our understanding of culture and intercultural work are; reframing, adaptive work, systems thinking, and consciousness. (Saylor, 2012, p.187) Cultural intelligence is our ability to successfully adapt to unfamiliar cultural settings. (Saylor, 2012, p.68) Reframing, adaptive work, systems thinking, and consciousness are all part of our cult...

How does Self-Efficacy Impact Leadership?

“Self-belief does not necessarily ensure success, but self-disbelief assuredly spawns failure” (Bandura, 1997). This typically emphasized the importance of self-efficacy in relation to Cultural Intelligence (CQ). Self-efficacy has to do with the belief that one has the ability to meet a goal he or she wants to accomplish, and its impact on how he or she subsequently feels and acts (Cultural Intelligence for Leaders, 2012). This is a reminisce of the case of Kalia, in this case, study, whose low self-efficacy is negatively impacting on her ability to unite her team. Kalia is heading a diverse team of eight staff members within a large organization. It is evident there is conflict across her team, and the cross of the matter appears to be grounded in cultural differences linked to age, ethnicity, and gender. According to our reading text, Kalia has been able to identify the problem, but her constraint is how to address the issues because she seems not ...

Work life balance tips for HRs

Benefits—Tangible and to the Culture of an organization that undertakes the adoption of policies designed to help employees with work-life balance?  What does an organization stand to gain if it can work through the growing pains of implementation?    Employers who choose to adopt some work-life policies may find that the candidate pool of applicants increases since employee are always interested in balancing their work and personal lives.  Clearly, a benefit is being able to attract the best possible candidates.  Absenteeism may decrease if employees are able to better structure their lives because of time, or a day, to be taken may not need to be taken if the employee is able to use a flexible schedule, (Kossek, 2009).  Additionally, those employees who wish to start a family may feel at ease knowing that as circumstances in their life changes, their employer has mechanisms for employee flexibility.  This means that there may be less absenteeism....
