In order to create an effective job description to not only attracted to the top talents but
also provided the most descriptive information about the job to the candidates so that they can
have a thorough understanding of the job functions, expectations, as well as skills, experience,
and academic qualifications to meet the requirements. Job analysis allows human resource
personnel obtaining detailed information about the job as well as the requirements so that the job
description can be formed.
In this assignment, I am tasked to create an effective job description for the General
Manager position at Reb Lobster restaurants. Therefore, before I come up with the job
description, I must review the job responsibilities of the General Manager position at a Red
Lobster restaurant. In order to have the most effective and accurate job responsibilities, I must
talk to the actual General Manager at the restaurant to have a clear understanding of their
responsibilities and daily functions. By talking to the Restaurant Manager, I can figure out what
works and what does not, what need to add, or eliminate to make the job descriptions more
accurate, so that the position can attract the closest talent or skills as much as possible. Next, I
must do research for the job description of a similar position within the same industry, that would
give me an idea of how to approach the good job description. Once I have a thorough
understanding of the needs of the jobs as well as the qualifications and requirements, then I
would brainstorm one.

Job Descriptions
Summary of Position:
As a Restaurant Manager, you have the capacity to make the difference to the customers
and your staffs. You are responsible for daily operations of the restaurant to optimally achieve
the goals and sales objectives set by the Reb Lobster restaurants with the focus on high-quality

seafood, and beverages. At the same time, you are here to lead the staffs so that the customer
service satisfaction can be achieved fully.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of daily restaurant operation includes daily budgets, sale goals, profit
& loss, staff recruiting, hiring, coaching, and managing.
- Oversee and manage job-related activities of all staff members within the restaurant
- Enforce, and provide direction, guidance to all staff members on proper customer services
to ensure the customer needs, complaints or any issue are successfully handled and
resolved within the standard guidelines of Reb Lobster corporate.
- Ensure the highest quality customer services providing
- Ensure the food, drink products are safely handled by the staffs, while maintaining the
clean and friendly environments for guests at all times
Education, Experience Qualifications:
- High School diploma or Equivalent General Education (GED) Required; Bachelor’s
degree Preferred
- At least 1 year experience in the capacity of manager or supervisor in hospitality,
restaurant required. Any experience in the management of casual dining restaurant
preferred.
- Minimum age is 21 at the time of hiring
- Maintain ServSafe, or any state, local certification or ability to obtain required
Required Skills & Aptitudes:
- Proven ability to manage, lead, coach and build the team of staffs

- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) among staff members and guests
- Excellent understanding of restaurant daily operations and ability to thrive for success
- Experienced financial management skills for creating, analyzing and interpreting the
financial profit & loss reports.
- Exceptional ability to control and resolve any issue arise within the restaurant
- Exceptional customer services skills
- Great ability to work in the fast pace, high volume restaurant
